Annual Report 2024-25

This report presents the Cooperative’s activities, progress, and financial performance for the period from April 2024 to March 2025.

OFFICE PREMISE

In January 2025, we relocated our office from the Guwahati Club premises to Goswami Bhawan, Ward Street Road, Uzan Bazar, Guwahati – 781001. A physiotherapist and a Yoga instructor share a portion of the space, contributing towards the rent, who shared Rs. 51,600 as their contribution in 2024-25.

The Jalukbari premises were refurbished in 2024 at no cost to the Society, intended as a Knowledge & Information Hub offering health and welfare services to students of Gauhati University. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Northeast India Business Council (NEIBC), has not yet gained traction and remains inactive. At present, the rental and electricity bills are a financial liability. Given its strategic location, we must explore more sustainable uses of this property. A total of 60 months’ rent remains outstanding, but the university authority is happy to settle for 56 months (Rs. 1170/ month), which means the due stand at Rs. 65,520.

We expanded our network of service partners during 2024–25:

  • New tie-ups: 2 laboratories (Nalbari and Diphu) and 2 hospitals (Diphu and Guwahati).
  • Total tie-ups: >50.
  • Franchisee arrangement: PATHKIND (All-India diagnostic laboratory).

While we do not maintain a physical collection centre, members can avail themselves of discounted home collection services by contacting PATHKIND directly.

BENEFICIARY & BENEFITS

A robust mechanism for tracking usage across all partners remains a challenge, yet partial data shows members continue to derive significant savings.

2024–25 data (from 21 partners):

  • 882 members benefited
  • Total rebates: ₹26,81,162

This is a sharp increase compared to earlier years:

  • 2019–20: ₹12,00,000 (Ayursundra diagnostics alone)
  • 2021–22: ₹33,74,905 (from 9 partners)
  • 2023–24: ₹11,80,416 (from 19 partners, 1,338 members)

The upward trend confirms that rebates and savings for our members are steadily increasing year after year.

Beneficiaries remain the core strength of our Cooperative, and expanding enrollment remains our primary strategy.

  • New beneficiaries in 2024–25: 659 (compared to 512 in 2023–24)
  • Revenue from enrollment: ₹3,08,000 (compared to ₹2,45,400 in 2023–24)
  • Total active beneficiary members (cumulative): 8,977

The consistent growth in enrollment highlights the trust and value our Cooperative continues to build within the community.

Although no active capital-raising drive was undertaken, 11 new shareholders joined during 2024–25, bringing the total to 279.

We are the only Cooperative society in the Healthcare which is Not-for-Profit.

You can represent us by becoming a proud member of the society and help create a sustainable citizen-owned medical enterprise.

AYUSHBARTA

Ayushbarta, our in-house newsletter, was rebranded and relaunched in December 2024 in both Assamese and English.

  • 1st issue (Dec 2024) – Successful relaunch
  • 2nd issue (Apr 2024) – Net revenue: ₹54,000
  • 3rd issue (Dec 2024) – Net revenue: ₹62,000

Ayush Barta has enhanced our visibility, built awareness on health issues, and generated valuable advertising income.

Community-based health camps for non-communicable disease (NCD) screening remain an essential strategy for both awareness-building and beneficiary enrollment. During 2024–25, eight health camps were conducted, enrolling 45 new beneficiaries — a commendable achievement.

FINANCES

Operating deficit (2024–25): ₹1,83,814 (reduced from ₹2,64,741 last year) – Outstanding rental burden of Rs. 65,520 for the Jalukbari promises is not included in this figure, which we intend to make up from a commercial partnership arrangement.

Our operating deficit has been reduced to Rs. 2,64,741 from Rs. 1,83,814 in the year 2024-25.

New share capital raised: ₹2,10,000

Fixed deposit investment: ₹106,215

While we are not in a position to declare dividends, many shareholders have already received benefits well in excess of their initial investment, reflecting the true spirit of cooperative principles. Our registrations under CSR and 80G now position us to raise funds for not-for-profit initiatives. The real strength of the Cooperative lies not just in tangible assets but in its growing membership base, expanding partnerships, and increasing brand recognition.

Looking ahead, our priorities include:

  • Identifying land for the proposed Community Hospital (Diagnostic & Day-care Centre with Maternal and Child Health Services).
  • Expanding partnerships with service providers at both the state and national levels.
  • Growing the beneficiary base, particularly through group memberships.
  • Publishing Health Guides on Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity, and related topics.
  • Organising healthcare conferences to raise public awareness.
  • Exploring soft loans, CSR funding, and crowdfunding for service development.
  • Building a consortium of like-minded organisations to promote ethical, citizen-driven healthcare.
